Vinyl looks straightforward, but the installation makes all the difference. Fastened too tight, it warps. Fastened the right way, it stays smooth for the long haul.
Vinyl continues to be one of the top siding choices in New Holstein, WI, largely because it shrugs off the weather and barely asks for any upkeep once it's up. What most homeowners never hear about is just how much the installation technique shapes how well it performs over time. Vinyl is built to expand and contract as temperatures shift, and fastening it too snugly against the wall is the most common reason panels start rippling or buckling within just a few years. Our crew always leaves the manufacturer's recommended clearance at every fastener point so the panel has room to move the way it's designed to.
Fastening technique is only part of the equation — a solid vinyl job also depends on details most people never notice: starter strips set dead level, J-channel matched correctly to the panel profile, and corner posts plumbed before the first course even starts. Rushing through these steps is exactly what produces that faint wavy look that makes an otherwise decent vinyl job read as low quality from the curb. The crew rechecks level and plumb throughout the project, not just at the outset, because small errors early on multiply as each course goes up.
Vinyl also comes in a range of thicknesses and profiles, and picking the right one depends on how much wind exposure a given New Holstein, WI property faces along with the look the homeowner is going for — from classic lap siding to board and batten styles. The team reviews those options with you before any material is ordered, then applies the same fastening discipline no matter which profile ends up on the wall. After #YEARS years installing vinyl throughout the area, that principle hasn't changed: give the material room to move.
That look almost always traces back to panels fastened too tightly, which prevents the material from naturally expanding and contracting with temperature changes. Proper fastening avoids the problem entirely.
Heavier gauge vinyl generally performs better in high wind exposure. During your consultation, the crew can recommend a thickness suited to your home's specific location.
It can, depending on the style. The crew will discuss whether the profile you're considering fits the architecture of your older home before any material gets ordered.
